Doesn’t this look SO good? I saw this posted on Once A Month Meals and fell in love!
This is TOTALLY going on our family’s meal plan for this week. I know it will be a crowd please for my Paleo husband and are carnivorous, kid-o-sauruses! I’m going to leave out the peppers, so they aren’t too hot for our boys. I can’t wait to see them gobble these up. The minute I laid eyes on this picture, I knew it was “family-friendly” — because of that awesome guacamole on the side for dipping!
Do you give your children dip for their meat?
Meat is typically one of the most refused food items. This is because meats, with exception of moist presentations such as meat loafs or stews, require more effort for our little ones to eat. Meats that are tougher and/or drier require more chewing and more saliva production to help break them down in preparation for its trip down your little ones gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
You can help your children reduce this work load by offering dips with meals, especially those with tougher meats. Dips add flavor and most importantly, they provide extra moisture to help your child break down food with less effort.
Don’t fret! You don’t have to whip up a gourmet dip each night to get your child chomping. Some of our favorite daily side dips include hummus, guacamole, yogurt, spinach dip, BBQ sauces and condiments, such as dressings or ketchup (although my Cub is not a ketchup fan). Let them choose!
What dips have your tried to offer your children with meat? Do they have a favorite? Is there a specific type of meat that you serve that is often refused? Let’s talk about it! Leave me a comment below.
